ALL ABOUT DOODLE

Doodle is a type of sketch, an unfocused drawing made while a person's attention is otherwise occupied. They are simple drawings which can have a meaning, a shape or just irregular forms.
It is well established that much of our creative expression is birthed in the subconscious mind. To use creative expression and solutions in your everyday life,it is necessary to dip into the subconscious at will. Doodling is one way of doing this.
Doodling allows the unconscious to render in symbolic expression.Symbols have universal as well as personal meaning. When you are stuck for an answer to a problem or looking for creative innovation, the technique of doodling will unleash the hidden symbolic powers of the subconscious mind.
The PROJECT
This project aims at exploring various innovative methods to create doodles and then use it as a technique for self introspection and communication. a channel to let your thoughts out.A method for mind mapping , helping in learning and making visual maps. It also aims at providing a collaborative graphical chat space. To use this non –verbal method of communication to create new graphics, explore new ideas and share thoughts. This system would be a tool for mapping inner space, and creating visuals for both communication and for personal reflection.
Various concepts could be build around it like sort of an association game,a place to maintain your doodles like sort of a scrap book , for self introspection and personal reflection purposes,to be able to doodle when listening to music or watching a video .. sharing thoughts...creating graphics.... building on to an another doodle.. collaboration.... .... ... ideas .. ideas.. ideas...!!!!!!
Hence it aims at exploring and finding the use of doodling to its full extent, and be able to use it as a useful, efficient and at the same time a fun tool for learning and thinking and being creative.

Very interesting idea and I'm keen to know how this shapes up.. And I was about to ask why "pitara" but then I read Gaurav's comment..

And I second Siddharth - If you ever run short of volunteers or if Siddharth is busy!

hey this looks good!great taht you started doing this. do you want to try...
*. completely ignoring aesthetics, and keep only self representation. This may come from being being only spontaneous about it (the first thing that hits your head is on paper)

*. go beyond obvious representations, lets say u thinking of the emotion "happy", your subconscious will have its own version which might not be a smiley :)

*. take no advice (including the above)

I find such stuff exciting..waiting to see how it turns out.!

hey shuchi....since I don't know her personally, I dont have the ID but if u gooogle her...u'll get it somewhere.....

check another interesting link

think of a context !...

one idea: customizable interfaces...u create the interface with pen/ stylus/ whatever....and then use it...

but again....context :)

hmm very nice concept.. especially with reference to its use for 'self introspection and personal reflection purposes' as u have mentioned... yes as opposed to sketching doodling is for everyone... irrespective of skill level.. its as good as facial expression and since it is meant for self its very true... unlike sketches which can change the gravity of 'original idea' by use of different skill level!! doodle is always very true form of wht u think (or are undergoing )... this way your project can be very usefull in "stress evaluation and stress management" context. just reminds me of 'taarein zamein par'
good luck..

whenever i have a phone in one hand and a pen in another i think the results on paper at the end of conversation are surprizing even to me ...i didnt know the term before but i think i doodle..trying to make some dots here and there then trying to join them to form something, a face, a name, an image sometime..its not something i think and make but when the reciever is kept down there is always something to smile about, on the paper...:)

Quite a nice problem area that you have chosen, and it would be interesting to know whether this will lead to any software based solution that could truly contain the meaning of doodling. The moment you tend to introduce traditional UI elements to such a problem, it brings a lot of consciousness also from the user and that may defeat the purpose of doodling. Good luck.

hey shuch... esh here.. really interesting topic... all i do when i hav a fone is doodle... :)... the most interesting thing about analyzing sumthing like dis is dat its soooo abstract... n soooo different for each person... beats me how ur gonna manage generalizing such disparity of so many random minds..!! yet sounds like somethin u could totally manage... make sense of it.. me curious 2 know how, why , what, where... keep in touch..mwah!
